Synopsis

Data and information such as audio, graphics, video, text and numbers are simplified into binary numbers when used in computing. The computer does not have a large number of symbols for representing data and information. It has only two states represented by 0 and 1 called the binary digits. These correspond to the two electronic or magnetic states used in computer circuits and storage, the ON and OFF states. This lesson exemplar contains how an instructor can best deliver the Binary Number System Conversions under Computer Fundamentals and Programming course and delivery of the lesson runs for 1 hour and 30 minutes. It caters to various learning styles and it addresses the challenges for an instructor to strategically utilize pedagogies, feedback style and assessments, both formative and summative. It also satisfies the need to effectively integrate technology in the course of delivering the lesson to maintain utmost attention and participation. The exemplar highlights the use of Learning Management System and gamification while taking into consideration alternative teaching and learning activities in case of unforeseen circumstances.
